Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit a full-time, permanent Optometrist in Hampshire.
The salary is £54,522 to £67,740 per annum, dependent on experience and based on a 38.875-hour week, with full-time hours open to negotiation. This role will suit a clinically confident practitioner who enjoys variety and is committed to excellent patient care.
You will provide eye and contact lens care, promote eye health and conduct comprehensive examinations. Depending on your qualifications and practice needs, you may also undertake appointments such as dry eye assessments.
Working in line with General Optical Council standards, you will advise patients on visual health, lifestyle and preventative care, and make clear recommendations focused on their needs. You will work closely with Dispensing Opticians and support colleagues to provide a smooth patient journey.
The role includes keeping accurate, up-to-date patient records and using diagnostic equipment such as OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry and visual fields. You will also contribute to clinical governance and quality assurance, maintain your continuing professional development, and support practice growth through high-quality care and communication.
Our client provides community eye care and hearing care services to an established local community and surrounding villages. The practice is described as having a supportive team culture, high professional standards and a strong focus on customer care.
The package includes professional fee support, continuing education and training, a company pension scheme with life assurance, and a pro-rata allowance of 33 days’ holiday including bank holidays. There is no Sunday or bank holiday working, and the working pattern includes one Saturday off each month.
You will need a BSc (Hons) in Optometry or an equivalent degree, and current registration with the General Optical Council as a qualified Optometrist. Experience in a community practice is required; additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract are beneficial.
You will bring strong clinical skills and communicate clearly with patients and colleagues. A patient-centred approach, empathy and professionalism are important, alongside accuracy in record-keeping and the ability to collaborate across clinical and retail teams. You should be able to manage your time effectively under pressure and be committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
This position could suit an experienced community Optometrist looking for a varied clinical role within a supportive local practice. It will appeal to someone who takes pride in patient care and wants to continue developing their skills while contributing to a close-working team.
The practice is in a rural part of Hampshire, serving a local community and surrounding villages.
