Flame Health Pharmacy are proud to be working confidentially with our client to recruit a Pharmacist for an onsite role in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, with a salary of £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience. This opportunity could suit a GPhC-registered pharmacist at junior, mid-level or senior stage who wants to contribute to the safe running and ongoing development of a growing pharmacy operation.
Reporting to the Superintendent Pharmacist, you will support the day-to-day running of the pharmacy and work closely with the Head of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Manager and wider operational teams. You will follow established standard operating procedures and practice standards, check dispensed prescriptions and help ensure orders are sent promptly through courier services.
You will support the development and maintenance of pharmacy procedures, deputise for the Pharmacy Manager when required, and contribute to the training and development of the pharmacy workforce. The role also involves managing near-miss reporting, analysing incidents and agreeing action plans with the Risk and Safety team. You will coordinate with service and other internal teams to support timely dispatch, work with the compounding team to supply medicines, and partner with the Pharmacy Manager and Supply Chain team to manage inventory. Regular work on at least one weekend day each week is required; candidates may be able to work both weekend days.
Our client is a growing healthcare organisation with a technology-enabled pharmacy and compounding operation. The role offers the chance to contribute to pharmacy processes, service development and patient experience as the organisation develops. You will work with pharmacy leadership and colleagues across operational, risk and safety, service, compounding and supply chain functions.
The package includes private medical insurance, a gym and wellbeing benefit, Cycle to Work and electric car schemes, 25 days’ annual leave, enhanced parental leave and flexible working policies. Both full-time and part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
You must be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and bring strong professional expertise. You will have a good understanding of pharmacy operations and the provision of national and local services, alongside a clear commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
The role calls for a collaborative approach and confident communication with patients, customers and colleagues, adapting interactions to meet varied needs. You should be comfortable following operational procedures while also helping to identify and resolve problems. An interest in improving processes and service delivery will be valuable, as will the ability to work regularly on at least one weekend day each week.
This role could suit a pharmacist seeking an opportunity to broaden their operational experience, or an established practitioner looking to contribute to pharmacy development and service improvement. It may appeal to someone who values collaborative working and wants to make a practical contribution to safe medicine supply and patient experience.
The role is based onsite in South Oxfordshire. The position requires regular weekend working.
