Flame Health Pharmacy has been instructed by our client to recruit a Compounding Pharmacist for its on-site operation in Oxfordshire. This is a confidential opportunity to join a growing pharmacy team, with the scope to work across specialist compounding and standard pharmacy services. The position can be considered on a full-time or part-time basis for the right candidate.
The Compounding Pharmacist will provide professional oversight of medicines prepared within the compounding operation, helping ensure they are safe, accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements. The role is based in South Oxfordshire and offers a salary of £50,000 to £65,000 per annum. It may suit an experienced compounding pharmacist or a GPhC-registered pharmacist keen to develop in this area.
Working closely with the Compounding, Pharmacy and Quality teams, you will review prescriptions and assess the clinical and pharmaceutical suitability of compounded preparations. You will carry out pharmacist checks, support the final release of medicines and advise colleagues on pharmaceutical matters, including resolving issues that arise during preparation.
You will help ensure work follows approved standard operating procedures, formulations and batch documentation, and contribute to in-process checks, deviation management and investigations where required. Working with Quality colleagues, you will support strong documentation, traceability and patient safety, as well as the development of new formulations and processes and continuous improvement across the operation.
When required, you will also act as Responsible Pharmacist for the wider pharmacy. This may include prescription screening, dispensing, responding to clinical queries and other non-compounding duties, with work across both areas shaped by operational and patient needs.
Our client is a growing international healthcare business expanding its services across a range of health categories. Its pharmacy operation combines compounding with more standard pharmacy services, giving the successful candidate scope to contribute to a developing area of practice while supporting patients and customers.
The role sits within a growing team and reports to the Superintendent Pharmacist. Benefits include private medical insurance, a gym and wellness benefit, a daily lunch allowance, annual leave plus bank holidays, parental leave policies, a pension with matched contributions, a cycle-to-work scheme and regular team events.
You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and demonstrate a high level of professional expertise. A strong interest in pharmacy and in providing good care to customers and patients is important, alongside sound knowledge of pharmacy operations and national and local services.
You will communicate clearly and confidently, including in face-to-face interactions, and work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, compounding operatives and Quality colleagues. The role requires flexibility to work across compounding and standard pharmacy operations according to business and patient needs.
Experience in compounding, manufacturing, aseptic services, quality assurance or another controlled pharmaceutical environment would be advantageous. However, training can be provided for a pharmacist with the right interest and approach.
This role could suit a pharmacist with compounding experience who wants to take on professional oversight, or a pharmacist ready to build expertise in a developing area of pharmacy. It offers the opportunity to contribute across both specialist compounding and wider pharmacy services as part of a growing team.
The role is onsite in South Oxfordshire.
