Key Responsibilities:

Facility Setup & Management:

  • Lead the setup of a new compounding facility, ensuring it meets industry standards.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to guarantee efficiency and quality.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with MHRA, GPhC, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Manage the application and approval process for all necessary licenses, including the production of “specials.”
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage a skilled team of pharmacy professionals.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to maintain a high-performing team.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain all SOPs to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
  • Regularly review and update procedures in line with regulatory changes and best practices.

Research & Development:

  • Drive innovation through the research and development of new pharmaceutical formulations.
  • Collaborate with prescribers to design and recommend tailored compounding solutions for patients.

Quality Control:

  • Oversee quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and address any deviations or risks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Demonstrable experience of developing a new clinical/commercial compounding facility
  • Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Proven experience in compounding pharmacy.

Preferred:

  • Background as an industrial pharmacist.
  • Experience with the production of “specials.”
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks in the UK.
