Flame Health has been instructed to recruit a Key Account Manager for a confidential pharmaceutical client. This remote role covers Scotland and Northern Ireland, with Scotland the priority and an ideal base in the Central Belt. Offering £60,000–£65,000 per annum, plus bonus and car allowance, it will suit an experienced pharmaceutical account manager with strong knowledge of the Scottish NHS and secondary care.
You will be responsible for delivering sales growth for the client’s ophthalmology portfolio, using market and customer insight to shape account plans, prioritise opportunities and build effective engagement. This includes setting clear objectives for each account, reviewing results and stakeholder feedback, and adapting activity to support performance and identify new opportunities.
The territory includes NHS and private healthcare providers. You will map stakeholders, understand care pathways and funding routes, and work with customers to support access to medicines and devices. You will also maintain customer profiles in CRM, share relevant market insights with internal colleagues, coordinate resources across the UK business and manage the territory budget. This is an individual contributor position, with no direct or indirect reports. Activities must follow internal procedures and the ABPI Code of Practice.
Our client is an international pharmaceutical business involved in the research, development, production and marketing of healthcare products. Its work spans specialist areas of care, including ophthalmology. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of customer relationships and improved access across NHS and private healthcare settings, while working with colleagues across the business to deliver account plans.
A degree or equivalent qualification is required. You will have demonstrable key account management experience and a record of sales success in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in secondary care is essential, alongside a strong understanding of the Scottish healthcare market and NHS structures, networks and priorities. Familiarity with private healthcare is also important. Ophthalmology experience would be an advantage, but can be developed in the role.
You will be able to build account plans, use market and customer data to inform priorities, and formulate business proposals. Confidence using CRM systems, communication platforms and varied data sources is required. The role calls for strong organisation, planning and analytical skills, as well as clear communication and the ability to influence stakeholders. A proactive, flexible and entrepreneurial approach, collaborative working style and comfort with ambiguity are also important.
This opportunity will appeal to an established pharmaceutical key account manager looking to take ownership of a broad Scottish territory, with Northern Ireland also within its remit. You will be motivated by developing accounts, setting priorities and turning insight into measurable growth, and keen to apply your secondary-care experience within a specialist area.
This is a remote position covering Scotland and Northern Ireland, with Scotland as the main focus. The preferred base is in the Central Belt of Scotland.
