Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to work with a family-run optical and hearing care business in Southampton to recruit a qualified, GOC-registered Optometrist. Offering a salary of ÂŁ45,000 to ÂŁ50,000 per annum, this role will suit either a newly qualified or experienced clinician who values quality patient care, strong customer relationships, and a hands-on community setting.
You will carry out comprehensive eye examinations within 30-minute test slots, using your clinical judgement to diagnose and manage a range of eye health conditions. The role also involves providing tailored advice on spectacle and contact lens options, ensuring each customer receives a thorough and individualised service.
Alongside your clinical work, you will build strong relationships with customers and work closely with branch colleagues to support day-to-day service delivery and business growth. Where applicable, you may also take part in local enhanced service schemes and contribute to pre-registration supervision.
You will have access to fully computerised systems, ongoing CPD training, an extensive e-learning platform, and regular product range updates.
Our client is a family-run opticians and hearing care business with a clear focus on putting the customer at the centre of everything it does. The environment is supportive and professional, with a strong emphasis on service quality, teamwork, and ongoing development.
The package includes flexible full-time and part-time working, professional fees covered, generous holiday entitlement, staff and family discounts, and support for newly qualified Optometrists. You will also benefit from access to cutting-edge optical products and regular updates across the range, helping you maintain a current and confident approach in practice.
You must be a qualified, GOC-registered Optometrist with strong clinical skills and a genuine commitment to outstanding patient care. We are looking for someone who is confident in carrying out eye examinations, comfortable diagnosing and managing a range of eye health conditions, and able to offer clear advice on spectacles and contact lenses.
The right person will enjoy working as part of a friendly, supportive team and value building lasting relationships with customers and colleagues. [suggestion: experience in a community optical setting] would be useful, though the role is open to both newly qualified and experienced Optometrists.
A commitment to ongoing CPD and professional growth is important, as is the ability to contribute positively to branch performance.
This role suits an Optometrist who wants to combine thorough clinical care with a personal, customer-focused approach. It will appeal to someone who enjoys hands-on practice, values structured appointment times, and is looking for a supportive setting in which to develop further. If you are motivated by quality, relationships, and professional progress, this could be a strong next move.
The role is based in the Southampton area and is onsite covering 2 locations. Southampton is a well-established city in Hampshire with local transport connections and the amenities expected of a major urban centre.
