Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to support the search for an Optical Advisor/Dispenser to join a boutique independent practice in central Nottingham, offering £26,000 to £28,000 depending on experience. This is a permanent, full-time role working Tuesday to Friday with alternate Saturdays, suited to an experienced optical professional who enjoys fashion-led dispensing, high standards of care and a modern, technology-driven setting.
In this role you will provide expert dispensing advice, guiding patients through frame and lens selection and ensuring every visit feels personal, attentive and well managed. You will be responsible for the patient journey from a service perspective, helping to deliver a premium experience while supporting in-store services and working closely with a highly skilled optical team.
The caseload is varied, with specialist clinics running through the week and a wide mix of patients coming through the door. You will also work with a broad range of lens companies to find the best solution for each dispense, whether that is a school vision tint or a more technical sports wrap. The role gives time for styling consultations, the use of modern dispense tools and the chance to contribute ideas, including social media content, where appropriate.
Our client is an award-winning independent optical practice with a strong reputation for personalised eye care and a service-led approach. Established in 2008, it operates as a stylish, welcoming boutique environment in Nottingham and focuses on one-to-one care, premium eyewear and a relaxed patient experience.
The business is known for its innovative approach, including travelling abroad to source new and distinctive frame brands, and for offering a carefully selected range of boutique eyewear and sunglasses. Its clinical offering is broad, with state-of-the-art technology supporting eye examinations, contact lens fittings and specialist services such as School Vision, Sports Vision, Dry Eye Clinics and EnChroma assessments.
We are looking for an experienced Optical Advisor with demonstrable dispensing experience, an eye for detail and a genuine interest in optical fashion trends. You should be confident in your communication, organised in your approach and committed to exceptional customer care.
The right person will be proactive, motivated and comfortable working as part of a small team. A newly qualified dispensing optician, or an experienced optical advisor looking to complete the DO course, would also be welcomed, provided they bring the right attitude, a strong service ethic and a willingness to keep developing.
This role will suit someone who enjoys time with patients, values quality over volume and wants to work in a practice where styling, service and technical standards all matter. It will also appeal to a candidate who is looking for support, training and the chance to grow within an independent setting.
If you are fashion-conscious, team-oriented and keen to contribute ideas, this could be a strong next step. The position is ideal for someone who wants variety, autonomy and a role where customer excellence is central.
The role is based in central Nottingham, within easy reach of the city’s main transport links and local amenities. The setting sits in the professional quarter, offering the character and convenience of a busy urban centre.
