Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit a qualified, GOC-registered Optometrist for a role in Rushden, Northamptonshire, offering a salary of £65,000–£70,000 depending on experience. Working four or five days per week, including Saturdays, this position would suit an Optometrist who combines sound clinical judgement with a commitment to patient care and professional development.
As an Optometrist, you will conduct comprehensive eye examinations within 25-minute test slots, providing thorough patient care and using your clinical judgement to diagnose and manage a range of eye health conditions. You will advise customers on spectacle and contact lens options suited to their individual needs, while building lasting relationships and ensuring a positive experience at every visit.
You will work closely with the branch team to support excellent service delivery and contribute to the continued development of the practice. The role also includes opportunities to participate in local enhanced service schemes and pre-registration supervision where applicable. Fully computerised systems, ongoing CPD training and access to an extensive e-learning system will support your clinical practice and continued learning.
Our client is a family-run optical and hearing care business with a strong focus on professional service, customer relationships and clinical standards. Its branches combine patient care with access to a broad range of optical products, supported by regular product updates and computerised systems.
The organisation provides flexible full-time and part-time opportunities, professional fee support, CPD training, staff and family product discounts, and holiday entitlement of 25 days plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis. Its culture values people, professionalism and a supportive approach to career development.
You must be a qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council. The role is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced practitioners, provided you are confident in your clinical skills and committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
You should be able to conduct comprehensive eye examinations, manage a range of eye health conditions and provide clear, tailored advice on spectacles and contact lenses. A customer-centred approach is essential, together with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, colleagues and branch teams. You should also be motivated to maintain current knowledge through CPD and contribute positively to local services and, where applicable, pre-registration supervision.
This role would suit a newly qualified Optometrist seeking structured support and hands-on clinical experience, as well as an established practitioner looking for a practice where professional development and patient relationships are valued. It may appeal to someone seeking flexible working across four or five days while remaining closely connected to their local community.
