JOB DESCRIPTION

Optical Advisor Jobs East Yorkshire
Optometry Jobs Yorkshire

Salary: National Living Wage (negotiable depending on experience) + bonus
Working Pattern: Part-time (28.5 hours per week)

About the Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has become available for a part-time Optical Assistant to join a well-established independent optical practice in the East Yorkshire area.

This role offers the chance to work within a friendly, community-focused environment, as part of a small and supportive team. The practice has a strong local reputation and provides a high standard of care to its loyal patient base.

The Role

As an Optical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the practice and delivering a high level of customer service.

Your responsibilities will include meeting and greeting patients, booking and managing appointments, handling telephone enquiries, assisting with dispensing, carrying out fittings and adjustments, and supporting general administrative duties.

You will work alongside a small team, typically including two colleagues and an Optometrist on shift, contributing to a collaborative and positive working environment.

The Practice

The practice is an independent optical provider with a strong community presence. It offers a welcoming and professional setting, with a steady patient flow and a focus on delivering personalised care.

There may occasionally be a requirement to support a nearby branch, therefore a driving licence is preferred.

Candidate Requirements

Previous retail or customer service experience is essential. Experience within optics or dispensing is desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and a friendly, professional approach to patient care. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is key.

What’s on Offer

The role offers a salary in line with the National Living Wage, with flexibility for higher pay depending on experience. A bonus scheme is also in place.

You will benefit from structured in-practice training, a supportive working environment, and the opportunity to develop skills within the optical sector.
