Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit an Independent Prescribing Optometrist for an established independent practice in Esher, Surrey, offering £64,000–£70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Full-time and part-time arrangements will be considered. This position suits an Optometrist seeking greater clinical autonomy, varied patient care and the opportunity to build lasting professional relationships outside a high-volume setting.
You will provide thorough, patient-focused eye examinations with the time to assess, manage and refer patients appropriately. The role includes working with OCT and Optomap retinal imaging, complex prescriptions, contact lenses, paediatric eyecare, myopia management, dry eye and anterior eye conditions, ocular disease detection and management, and bespoke spectacles and lenses.
You will work alongside an experienced clinical team with expertise in Independent Prescribing, medical retina, low vision, paediatrics, contact lenses and myopia management.
The position also includes referral and co-management with ophthalmology, providing clinical variety and scope to develop specialist interests.
Our client is a family-run independent optometry practice with a long-standing reputation for thorough, personalised eyecare for patients of all ages.
The practice has a strong clinical ethos, prioritises continuity of care and invests in diagnostic technology and professional development.
Its services include OCT, Optomap retinal imaging, dry eye and AMD clinics, paediatric eyecare, contact lenses, myopia control, and bespoke spectacles and lenses.
The culture places clinical quality and professional autonomy ahead of volume, within an experienced and supportive team.
You must be registered with the General Optical Council and committed to delivering excellent patient care. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified and experienced Optometrists.
The essential qualities are a considered clinical approach, professionalism and a genuine desire to provide an exceptional patient experience.
An Independent Prescribing qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
You should be comfortable engaging with a varied patient base and interested in developing your clinical skills across areas such as ocular disease, paediatrics, contact lenses or myopia management.
This role is suited to an Optometrist who wants to move away from a high-volume environment and practise with greater independence.
It may appeal to someone newly qualified seeking a strong clinical foundation, or to an experienced practitioner looking for variety, development and long-term patient relationships.
The practice is based located in a sought-after Surrey town with excellent transport links to London and surrounding areas, offering a great balance of convenience, community and quality of life. The role is onsite.
