Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit an Optometrist for Swansea and surrounding areas.
The role offers a salary of up to £64,000 per annum, monthly commission, a company car for business and personal use, and the choice of working four or five days per week with no weekends.
This position would suit an optometrist who values clinical autonomy and wants to provide high-quality eye care directly in patients’ homes.
As a domiciliary Optometrist, you will visit around six to seven patients each day in their own homes across South Wales. Appointments last approximately one hour, giving you time to build meaningful relationships and deliver attentive patient care.
You will use digital records and specialist mobile equipment, including a digital fundus camera, mobile slit lamp and I-care tonometer. The role involves making independent clinical decisions, with access to the senior optometrist team for support or a second opinion when required.
You will receive a full equipment kit and comprehensive training before working independently. Ongoing support is available for continuing professional development, including time to complete examinations where required.
Our client is a leading UK provider of optical care at home, supporting the NHS by bringing essential eye care to people who may find it difficult to access high-street services. Its purpose is to make clinically excellent eye care more accessible and affordable.
The organisation provides mobile technology, digital systems and structured clinical support to its workforce. The package includes a fully expensed company car, payment of GOC fees, private medical insurance, life assurance, pension contributions, 33 days’ holiday inclusive of bank holidays, employee discounts and access to a colleague assistance programme.
You will be an optometrist with the clinical expertise and confidence to work autonomously in patients’ homes. The role requires someone who can use mobile diagnostic equipment effectively, maintain accurate digital records and make sound professional decisions during individual appointments.
Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach are important, as consultations are longer than those typically provided on the high street and require time to understand each patient’s needs. You should also be comfortable working independently while seeking guidance from the senior optometrist team when appropriate.
This opportunity would suit an optometrist looking for a different clinical environment, greater autonomy and the opportunity to make a direct difference to patients’ lives. It may appeal to someone seeking flexible full-time or part-time work, with four or five-day options and weekends free.
The position covers Swansea and surrounding areas in South Wales, with patient visits taking place in their homes.
