Flame Health Optometry is recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent optical practice for an experienced Optical Assistant to join its friendly and professional team in the Nottingham area.

The Opportunity
As an Optical Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for patients visiting or contacting the practice, ensuring every interaction is welcoming, professional and efficient.
Working closely with Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians and the wider team, you will help deliver an outstanding patient experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.

Working Pattern: 40 hours per week across Monday to Saturday with one weekday off
Salary: Up to £27,684.80 per annum depending on experience and training
Key Responsibilities
Welcome patients and provide outstanding front-of-house customer service
Assist with frame styling and eyewear selection
Dispense single vision, multifocal and contact lens products
Book and manage appointments
Process orders, payments and patient enquiries
Carry out basic adjustments and minor repairs
Maintain accurate patient records and administrative documentation
Ensure the practice environment remains professional, organised and welcoming
Support colleagues in delivering a seamless patient journey
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working within an optical practice is essential
Confident dispensing single vision, multifocal and contact lens products
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and IT skills
Friendly, professional and patient-focused approach
Ability to build strong relationships with patients and colleagues
Team player with a willingness to learn and develop
Training and Development
The successful candidate will benefit from a structured internal development programme designed to enhance both clinical knowledge and customer service skills. Training includes optical products, spectacle lenses, contact lenses, pre-screening techniques, adjustments and repairs, alongside broader exposure to hearing care services and patient management.
