Are you looking for a new challenge? Flame Health are now recruiting for an Ophthalmic Nurse to join a very reputable private laser eye clinic located in Central London.

The role will include looking after patients pre and post-operative care including ophthalmic diagnostic testing and assisting the surgeon within the theatre. Other day to day duties involve administering and dispensing eye drops, education on how to use eye drops, ordering medical supplies, and stock taking whilst following Care Quality Commission standards.

Candidates need to have a minimum of 1 year’s ophthalmic experience particularly with cataract and vitrectomy surgeries. If you have experience in a retina environment then that would be absolutely ideal.

This is a full-time position working 42 hours per week including a 1 hour lunch break. Working hours include Monday - Saturday with varied times between 7.30am-6.00pm over a 5-day period.

THE ROLE:
As an integral member of the retina team you would be involved in procedures such as:

  • Vitrectomy surgery
  • Cataract surgery
  • Intravitreal Injections
  • Fundus Fluorescein Angiography
  • Photocoagulation
  • Retinal tear and floaters treatment
  • Emergency and trauma surgery
  • Scanning patients using state-of-the-art diagnostic testing equipment
  • Dilating patients and discussing medications with them
  • You would also be part of ground-breaking research into retinal disorders and taking part in pioneering surgical procedures
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Registered as an adult nurse with a UK PIN
  • Ophthalmic scrub experience is essential (minimum of 1 years’ experience)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • IT and tech savvy with the ability to problem shoot and solve technical issues
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to write research papers – no experience necessary but an interest in research studies is ideal
