JOB Details:

Job Overview

Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to work with a confidential client on a Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Optometrist appointment based onsite in Hampshire. The role offers a salary of £75,000 to £80,000 per annum plus a 10% bonus, and will suit a qualified Optometrist with medical affairs experience who is comfortable working at the point where clinical evidence, commercial needs and regulatory standards meet.

About the Job

This position is responsible for executing scientific communication and evidence support activities in response to commercial requirements. Day to day, you will develop and review publications, abstracts and presentations, carry out medical review of claims, prepare technical documents, and provide scientific guidance to support commercial and regulatory work.

A key part of the role is oversight of the Investigator Initiated Studies programme, alongside subject matter expertise for In-Market Assessments. You will also support responses to competitor challenges and off-label enquiries, working closely with Commercial, Professional Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Clinical and R&D teams. The role requires clear communication of complex clinical information, strong coordination across functions, and travel to local and international offices, conferences and meetings for up to 10% of the time.

About the Employer

Our client is a global business operating within the medical device and eye care sector, with responsibilities spanning research, development and commercial support across multiple markets. The environment is shaped by scientific rigour, compliance boundaries and close collaboration between technical and commercial teams.

This is a role for someone who can help translate evidence into credible, compliant external and internal communications. The work includes supporting key opinion leader relationships, responding to legal and commercial challenges, and maintaining high standards in medical review and claims support.

What We Are Looking For

You will need a Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Optometry degree, or an equivalent qualification, together with at least five years’ experience in Medical Affairs, Professional Affairs or a related clinical or scientific industry role, with medical device experience strongly preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience as an Optometrist is also required, and patient-facing clinical experience, alongside practice management exposure, would be an advantage.

The role calls for proficiency in MLR/AdPromo and familiarity with US and EU promotional regulations. You should be able to interpret and explain complex clinical data for legal, regulatory, commercial and external audiences, and have experience of working across more than one global market. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, excellent organisation, and advanced capability in Excel, Word and PowerPoint are all important.

Who This Role Suits

This role will appeal to a qualified Optometrist who wants to apply clinical expertise in a broader scientific and commercial setting. It will suit someone who is methodical, credible with stakeholders and comfortable being the scientific reference point for claims, publications and cross-functional discussions.

It is a good fit for a professional who values accuracy, compliance and structured collaboration, and who is ready for a senior position with international exposure.

Job Location

The role is based in Hampshire, with onsite working expected. This location offers convenient access to the South Coast, with links towards Portsmouth and Southampton.
