Job Overview

Flame Health Optometry is supporting a respected independent optical group in the recruitment of a qualified Dispensing Optician to join their well-established practice in Colchester.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a community-focused independent practice that prides itself on delivering personalised, continuity-led patient care. The role is due to commence around July 2026 (although this could be brought forward) with full support provided during onboarding to ensure a smooth introduction to the practice and its patients.

The practice has a loyal patient base who value expertise, honesty, and long-term relationships with their optical team.

Role Responsibilities

As the Dispensing Optician, you will play a key role in delivering an excellent patient experience, including:

• Dispensing spectacles and advising on lenses, coatings, and frame choices
• Providing personalised frame styling and product recommendations
• Working closely with the Optometrist during clinics
• Supporting reception staff with optical queries where required
• Ensuring accuracy and high professional standards in all dispensing work
• Managing orders and patient records using Optix PMS
• Building strong, long-term relationships with patients

Products & Suppliers

You will work with a carefully selected range of high-quality products, including:

• Nikon, Seiko, and Rodenstock lenses
• A curated selection of independent eyewear brands
• A patient base accustomed to expert dispensing advice and quality products

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Dispensing Optician
• Confident in all aspects of dispensing and frame styling
• Patient-focused with excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable working within a small, friendly team
• Enjoys the autonomy and quality focus of independent practice
• Experience with Optix PMS beneficial but not essential (training provided)
