Flame Health is currently working with a high-end independent optical practice in Oxford to recruit a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced dispensing professional to join a modern, fashion-led optical environment while benefiting from a genuine Monday to Saturday working schedule.

The practice has built a strong reputation for delivering premium eyewear, personalised dispensing services and exceptional patient care, and continues to grow within the Oxford High-end optical market.  The client range and style offering is quite unique.

The Opportunity

This role offers a Dispensing Optician the chance to work within a stylish independent practice where both clinical expertise and eyewear styling are highly valued. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a first-class patient experience, supporting patients in selecting high-quality frames and lenses tailored to their individual needs.  It is quite typical to be doing a £1000 + dispense.

In addition to dispensing responsibilities, the role provides an opportunity to contribute to the commercial and product development side of the practice, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a varied position with genuine influence.  This opportunity will also offer career progression towards management.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver expert optical dispensing advice and patient care
Assist patients with frame styling and lens selection
Maintain the highest standards of customer service and patient experience
Support frame buying and product selection
Contribute to pricing strategies and product positioning
Assist with elements of practice development and recruitment support
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the practice

Experience with lens selection & glazing would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician who combines strong clinical knowledge with a passion for eyewear fashion and styling.

Key attributes include:

GOC registration (essential)
A strong understanding of optical dispensing and patient care
Commercial awareness and confidence within a retail optical environment
A genuine interest in premium eyewear and frame styling
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive and motivated approach to contributing to practice success

Salary & Benefits

£30,000 – £37,000 salary (depending on experience)
Monday to Saturday working schedule
8-hour shifts
Paid parking available
