Job Title:Â Trainee Dispensing Optician
Location:Â Epsom
This is your opportunity to learn and develop the essential skills required to become a fully qualified Dispensing Optician. Through a combination of blended learning—distance learning, block release periods, and hands-on practice—you’ll gain invaluable experience and qualifications under the guidance of an experienced supervisor.
As a TDO, your responsibilities will include:
Analysing prescriptions and providing tailored advice on lens types and frame styling.
Taking precise frame, facial, and lens measurements.
Completing distance learning coursework and assignments.
Attending block release periods for immersive study and practical training.
Building a Pre-Qualification Portfolio (PQP), showcasing your case records and clinical expertise.
We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals with:
GCSEs (Grade 4-9 / A-C)Â in English, Mathematics, and Science.
A strong passion for ophthalmic dispensing and a desire to learn.
Commitment to 10-15 hours per week for distance learning coursework.
Availability to attend two block release periods per year at ABDO College in Godmersham, Kent.
A professional and motivated attitude, with excellent communication skills.
Years 1 & 2:Â Training at our Epsom branch.
Year 3:Â Potential for placement at another branch, depending on availability and progression.
