Changes To Minimum To Eyesight Standards For Driving
The Department of Transport has confirmed changes to the minimum eyesight standards required for driving.
The changes include:
- You must be able to read a number plate from 20m
- You must have binocular visual activity of 6/12 (0.5), with lenses if required
- If you are advised by your doctor or optometrist not to drive becaus
e of your eyesight, it is your responsibilty to inform the DVLA
The Optical Confederation has expressed concerns over how these changes will be implemented and enforced.
