DIY Tooth Whitening? Go See Your Dentist First.
Flame Health are happy to hear that the British Dental Association has welcomed an agreement to amend the regulations governing the availability and use of tooth whitening products.
New regulations now mean that products containing or releasing over 0.1% hydrogen peroxide cannot be sold directly to the consultant. Products that are over this percentage but under 6% will only be available following a trip to the dentist and a treatment provided/supervised by them. This is to ensure that patients are able to use products provided to them properly at home.
The BDA and its partners in the Council of European Dentists (CED) have fought for a decision on this issue for almost four years.
As a dentist, how do you feel about these new regulations? Please let Flame Health know your thoughts.
