Optometrist to climb Everest in charity challenge

Optometrist Krishna Parmar will climb more than 5000m to raise funds for The Ben Parker Trust. Optometrist Krishna Parmar will embark on a challenge to scale Mount Everest for charity.

Parmar sets off on the expedition this month and hopes to raise at least £2000 for The Ben Parker Trust, a charity that supports the families of children fighting leukaemia or cancer, by gifting them a free holiday and allowing them to spend time together away from the hospital environment.

Parmar, who runs Specsavers practices in Beeston, Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Eastwood, previously trekked up Mount Kilimanjaro with her daughters five years ago, raising £7000 for two charities.

Through the charity challenge, Parmar will hike more than 5000m up to Everest’s Base Camp, where mountaineers begin their epic ascents to the summit.
