Health - Free PPE for health care providers in England extended into 2023
The Government has extended the provision of centralised, free personal protective equipment. This is for primary health care providers in England, lasting for another year.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has extended the provision of free personal protective equipment.
Primary care providers, NHS trusts, and adult social care providers will continue to be able to access PPE free of charge until 31 March 2023. Or until infection prevention and control guidance is withdrawn or significantly amended.
The move has been welcomed by the AOP, which has highlighted the importance of this provision in the delivery of safe eye care and reducing risk for practitioners and patients.
The announcement follows a public consultation held by the DHSC in October . This was to determine whether the central provision of free PPE to healthcare providers should be extended.
