Eye Health Information Officer - Central London
Part-time 4 days per week - Monday to Friday
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Eye Health Information Officer to join a charity organisation who are dedicated to providing support to individuals and families who have been affected by sight loss.
As an Eye Health Information Officer you will join a friendly team of trained advisers taking time to answer questions related to eye health. You will have an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of eye conditions and their relevant treatments, along with the ability to research complex medical conditions and make them easier to understand. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure that customers receive the information they are looking for in an easy and straight forward way.
Your experience of dealing with people at a difficult time in their lives will be invaluable. You will also have the ability to initiate and manage projects to budget, including writing easy to understand information on eye conditions and their treatments.

Requirements:
- In depth knowledge of a wide range of eye conditions, their treatments and the sources of support available
- (Equivalent to an ophthalmic nurse)
- In depth knowledge of the NHS, particularly knowledge of the structure and functions of the health service and the functions of professionals within the eye health field
- An understanding of the workings and operations of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence including knowledge of medical research techniques and how drugs are made available for NHS use
- Experience of working one to one with vulnerable adults in an information giving role
- Ability to initiate and manage projects to deadline and to budget
- Experience of providing evidence based written information for the public such as factsheets or leaflets on complex issues
- Ability to understand complex medical documents including research and an ability to explain this information in easy to understand language
