Residential Support Worker (Autism & Moderate To Severe Learning Difficulties) – Staffordshire
Competitive salary: of up £17,000 plus benefits.
We are looking to recruit Residential Support Workers to work within a Specialist Residential School that caters for young people aged 5 to 19 with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties. This school provides a modern setting in which students can achieve an enhanced degree of emotional stability through an active approach to learning. Students are able to engage in daily life with increased confidence, self-esteem, dignity and independence.
The ethos is to promote the development of social behaviours, independence and personal skills, offering opportunities to practice them in real life settings. The school provides care with a strong emphasis on the importance of privacy, dignity, rights, choice and fulfilment in a comfortable, homely, stimulating and safe environment.
Ideal candidate:
- Must hold NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Previous experience of working with children with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties
- You will be required to provide a range of support services including help with personal care and helping to develop social skills and home skills to students in their residential setting
- This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the confidence to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present
- This position will suit people who are prepared to work a three week rolling rota comprising of early and late shifts covering weekdays and weekends
