Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) is a relatively new role operating in the frontline of healthcare supporting the NHS emergency ambulances within the UK. The role is evolving rapidly, and primarily consists of assisting Qualified Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians with their duties.
We are currently recruiting ECA’s that will work alongside Medical Services own HCPC registered Paramedics and provide full training, career support and experience which could ultimately prepare you for a career as a Paramedic.
This is a challenging role where you can develop your leadership qualities as well as clinical expertise and most importantly how to deal with critical situations, whilst remaining calm and providing medical support and intervention in the most testing of circumstances.
Job Summary
To provide a professional and caring service for all patients whilst in the care of Medical Services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, care, treatment, and transport of patients and their carers/relatives in emergency and non-emergency situations in conjunction with a paramedic. Working as a crew, you will initiate appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both inter-hospital and pre-hospital environment, selecting and applying appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.

Fully Expensed Training Course to becoming an Emergency Care Assistance (ECA)
This eight week course follows the Edexcel specification for the Level 2 Diploma in Emergency Care Assistance (ECA) enabling students to gain a recognised qualification across both the NHS and Independent sectors. The initial course will consist of a five week residential course at Aston University in Birmingham, followed by a three week intensive driving course again leading to a recognised qualification in blue light emergency response driving.
Training Modules
During the course you will study 23 modules incorporating, The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker, Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care, the Principles of Infection Prevention and Control combined with patient care focused skills. These skills such as Patient Monitoring and Observation in Emergency Care Situations, Supporting Emergency Care during Pregnancy and Childbirth, Assisting the Clinician in the Initial Care of the Trauma Patient will prepare students to continue their education and training to become HCPC registered paramedics.
