New Guidelines for Care Homes Published
This winter, many of us have had the misfortune of experiencing the norovirus, or 'winter vomiting bug'. In fact, the Health Protection Agency have recorded a 63% rise in cases from last year.
Infections such as this can be particularly dangerous for care homes, with residents living and eating in close proximity to one another. In response to this potential risk, the Department of Health has published guidelines on how to protect care home residents from infection.
The guidelines have been put together to provide ‘clear information’ on standards for providers to adhere to.
