Eating at Christmas
The team at Flame Health Dentistry would like to remind everyone on the dangers of over indulging on festive treats this Christmas.
We all want to enjoy the Christmas break but think about how much you are consuming, for your teeth’s sake.
Denplan’s chief dental officer, Roger Matthews has put together a list of what to eat and what not to over indulge on. Take a read and see what you think!
Eat plenty of:
- Cheese: Rich in calcium and balances out PH in your mouth. Not too much though!
- Nuts: Peanuts (unsalted if possible) contain calcium and vitamin D, both vital for oral health. Walnuts, which are often used in puddings and cakes, also contain zinc fibre, folic acid, iron, thiamine, magnesium, vitamin E & B6, potassium and zinc.
- Vegetables: Broccoli and carrots in particular are great for your oral health as they contain vitamin A which help strengthens the tooth enamel
- Crudités: Eaten raw will massage your gums.
- Turkey: Rich is phosphorus, reduce tooth decay.
Try to avoid lots of:
- Sweets: They contain sugar!
- Fizzy drinks: They contain sugar!
- Processed cereals: They contain sugar!
- Crisps: They contain sugar!
- Wine: It can be very acidic!
But we are not saying avoid completely, Christmas is about treats but all in moderation!
