Can a Pharmacist reduce a GP's workload?

Pharmacy contractor, Gordon Couper has commented that GPs need to have more trust in pharmacists if they are to reduce their heavy workload,
This comment follows calls for doctors to dedicate more time to fully engage with clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).
Mr Couper, contractor at Handbridge Pharmacy in Chester, said GPs needed to "trust what we're doing" if pharmacists were to help free-up their workload, following a call for doctors to "work smarter" to engage in their new commissioning roles, as set out under the NHS reforms.
As a Pharmacist or a GP, what are your thoughts to this?
