Are you afraid of the Dentist?
The British Dental Health Foundation asked 1004 people what made them more nervous from a list including heights, flying, injections, doctors, snakes, spiders, going to the hospital and visiting the dentist.
Heights topped the poll closely followed by visiting the dentist. One in five people rated visiting the dentist as the thing that made them most nervous, more than any other category.
The adult Dental Health Survey points to two dental treatments as the main cause of these nerves. Three out of ten adults said that having a tooth drilled would make them very or extremely anxious. 28% reported equivalent of anxiety about having a local anaesthetic injection.
