Job Overview:
As an Optometrist, you will focus on improving patients' vision through detailed examinations, diagnostic tools, and tailored prescriptions. Your role will involve collaborating with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals and Optometrists to ensure coordinated patient care. With a unique emphasis on both healthcare and retail aspects, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our new flagship practice. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Examination:
· Collect comprehensive information about patients' medical history and current symptoms.
· Conduct detailed eye examinations to detect vision defects, abnormalities, injuries, or diseases.
· Monitor and manage patients' eye and vision issues during and after visits.
Vision Health Assessment:
· Assess and identify symptoms of general health conditions, such as hypertension or diabetes.
· Offer patients advice about their eyes or vision-related challenges.
Retail Aspects and Product Supervision:
· Supervise the retail aspects of vision care products, ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience.
· Provide recommendations and expertise in selling vision care products that meet the unique needs of patients.
Collaboration and Coordination:
· Work collaboratively with other Optometrists and healthcare professionals for coordinated patient care.
· Foster positive relationships with patients, colleagues, and vendors through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Knowledge of using eye examination tools and vision testing equipment, including OCT, and tonometers and visual field machines.
· Ability to provide practical diagnoses of eye and vision defects and identify conditions like cataracts or glaucoma.
· Sales aptitude in recommending and selling vision care products tailored to patient needs.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills to explain concepts to patients.
· Interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients, colleagues, and vendors.
Experience Requirements:
· You will need to be a qualified optometrist and be registered with the GOC and BCO.
· Proven experience in both healthcare and retail aspects of a vision care practice.
· Proficiency in standard optometric procedures.
