Optometrist – Exciting Opportunity with Leading Eye Surgery Specialists

Location: Central London & Hertfordshire
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum (pro rata, dependent on experience)
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week

The Role

This company are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optometrist to join their expert team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside world-class eye surgeons, providing outstanding patient care and supporting advanced ophthalmic procedures. You will play a key role in pre- and post-operative assessments, complex case management, and diagnostic testing, contributing to the clinic’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre- and post-operative eye examinations.
  • Assess patient suitability for laser surgery, cataract procedures, RLE, and ICLs.
  • Diagnose vision defects and detect eye conditions or abnormalities.
  • Manage and monitor specific eye conditions independently or in collaboration with consultants.
  • Provide expert advice and reassurance to patients regarding treatment options.
  • Perform a range of diagnostic tests, including Biometry, OCT, Auto-refraction, Pentacam, ECC, Visual Fields, and IOP checks.
  • Respond effectively to patient enquiries, ensuring high standards of customer service.
  • Maintain consulting, examination, and treatment rooms, ensuring a well-stocked and professional environment.
  • Engage with community optometrists to promote our client’s shared care scheme.
  • Support and participate in training events for optometrists, GPs, and staff.
  • Provide clinical advice to patients and administrative teams as required.
  • Contribute to data collection and research studies to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Carry out lens calculations for surgery patients when needed.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • GOC Registered Optometrist
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills and professional judgment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated with a passion for delivering top-quality care
  • Confidence and eagerness to develop clinically
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong patient care and customer service skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently

  • Independent Prescriber qualification or willingness to undertake the course
