Job Seekers – Spend Time On Your CV!
According to a new survey, job seekers are damaging their chances of securing a new position by neglecting a vital part of the recruitment process - the CV.
It may be difficult finding the time to dedicate to updating your CV, but the time which could be saved in securing a new role certainly makes it a worthwhile task. Your CV is usually the first impression a potential employer will have of you, so it is important to get it right!
Here are Flame Health's top tips to remember when writing your CV:
- Ensure your CV is TAILORED to each position you apply for; even if it is only a slight change of wording this could make all the difference in demonstrating how you are right for the role
- Always PROOF READ your CV, at least twice, to check for spelling errors which are surprisingly common
- Keep your CV as CONCISE as possible, cut out irrelevant experience if necessary; potential employers are looking for a summary of your experiences, you can always go into more detail at the interview stage
- Pay attention to the BASICS - capital letters in the correct places; use an appropriate email address; avoid clichƩs such as 'team player' and 'results driven'
