Optometrists urged to sign up for the new PPE portal before the deadline
The DHSC has created a beta version of its PPE platform. They are reminding healthcare providers to make the switch before the old system is closed on 26 April.
Optometrists are being reminded to register for the new version of the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) free personal protective equipment (PPE) portal. This needs to be done before the old system closes on 26 April.
All of those who had previously signed up to use the PPE portal, which was introduced to provide free PPE in the summer of 2020, should now have received an invitation to join the new version.
Optometrists should have received their invitation, via the email they signed up with, on the week beginning 14 March. If the email has not been received, the DHSC is urging users to check their spam folder.
The invitation email was sent from ppe-portal@dhsc.gov.uk, with the subject line ‘Welcome to the PPE Portal.’. The email lists the steps customers need to take to register and log into their accounts on the new platform.
From 26 April, those trying to log into the old portal (found at https://nhs-ppe.co.uk) will be redirected to the new version. This is where they will be able to continue ordering PPE free of charge.
The new portal will “better serve eligible providers in accessing COVID-19 related PPE stock, free of charge,” the DHSC said.
They added: “If you have received the email and are yet to register your account, please do so as soon as possible, before the old portal platform is shut down on Tuesday 26 April.
