Technical Customer Support (Optical Sales) – Birmingham, West Midlands
Flame Health Optical Sales is working on behalf of one of the world’s leading manufacturers of optical goods, combining ophthalmic expertise and solutions with an internationally recognised brand. They are looking for a Technical Customer Support in the Birmingham area.

For more than 160 years, they have been contributing to the many technological advances in its field, including the semiconductor, automotive and mechanical engineering industries, biomedical research and medical technology, as well as ophthalmic spectacle lenses, camera and cine lenses, binoculars and planetariums.
Your Responsibilities 

  • Working closely with the commercial team and Account Managers to identify specific customers that will benefit from the company's technical lens or service support
  • Customer visits to discuss how our client can support the customer to reduce complaints
  • Develop a training programme and aids that the customer will benefit from, specifically on their lenses and the mechanics being the designs
  • Customer returns and complaints data analysis (Identify key targets for returns e.g. Non Tolerance returns & track orders / customers to minimize returns and maximize satisfaction)
  • Support the Technical Team with the Reprocessing/ entering of any technical return orders and crediting the customer accordingly
  • Using expert optical knowledge, verify the quality of the lenses and glazing to the relevant ISO and company ophthalmic standard against the original customer order to ascertain the root cause for technical returns
  • Effectively manage difficult conversations with the customer, act as a role model for the team showing empathy at all times

 Specific Knowledge

  • F.B.D.O. Dispensing Optician required
  • Excellent optical lens product knowledge required
  • Advanced customer service knowledge is required
  • Extensive lens/ product knowledge is required
  • Managing effective ophthalmic training programmes
  • Able to interpret ISO ophthalmic standards required
  • Root cause analysis of returned product from customer
  • Knowledge of SAP, Order entry and systems.
  • MS Office
  • Excel Expertise
  • Clean driving licence

For this position it may be that you need to travel on occasions around the UK and Europe.
