The Pocket Optician
A new invention designed by a researcher from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, which may be able to prevent blindness in some the poorest parts of the world, is currently being tested in Kenya.
It comes in the form of a modified smartphone which can check for cataracts and perform a basic vision test by scanning the back of the eye.
