Changes To Minimum To Eyesight Standards For Driving
The Department of Transport has confirmed changes to the minimum eyesight standards required for driving.
The changes include:
- You must be able to read a number plate from 20m
- You must have binocular visual activity of 6/12 (0.5), with lenses if required
- If you are advised by your doctor or optometrist not to drive because of your eyesight, it is your responsibilty to inform the DVLA
The Optical Confederation has expressed concerns over how these changes will be implemented and enforced.
