Can a Contact Lens Detect Changes in Blood Sugar Levels?
Flame Health Optometry are happy to hear that the University of Akron in Ohio has developed a contact lens that can detect unusual blood sugar levels in the eye.
This is great news for diabetics as this new way of testing their insulin levels could take away the painful pin prick test.
The lens in is prototype stages at the moment but will work by changing colour if sugar levels change.
Flame Health Optometry are keen to follow this research and will be keeping an eye out for the release date.
