Glaucoma Gene Mutation Identified
Eye experts at Southampton General Hospital have successfully identified a gene mutation that causes glaucoma.
Eye experts have pointed out that the mutation is common among Europeans, with some 6 per cent carrying two copies, putting them at 60 per cent greater risk of developing the disease than those who carry none.
This breakthrough will hopefully lead to an earlier detection of glaucoma, which will hopefully prevent vision loss.
Flame Health believe that this is an amazing breakthrough for optometry and are keen to see the progress of this breakthrough.
