Pharmacies Demand Equality with GPs on Crime Protection
Pharmacies and professional bodies have united to call for protection equal to GPs in defending themselves.
General practice surgeries have been given free security in some areas, while pharmacies have been missing out. This follows a report from the Chemist and Druggist in August stating pharmacies were targeted by criminals over 200 times in London alone last year. The statistics obtained by the Chemist and Druggist from the Metropolitan Police under the Freedom of Information Act, revealed 34 people were hurt in crimes at pharmacies. The most common crime was burglary, with 91 cases reported.
Flame Health would like to know your opinions. Do you work in a pharmacy and feel the need for protection? Has your pharmacy been targeted in the past?
