Immigration: New Guidance on checking for illegal workers

From 29 February new rules come into force on the checking workers for their right to work in the UK.

The Border and Immigration Agency's “Comprehensive Guidance for UK Employers on Preventing Illegal Working” will replace the existing Home Office Guidance of April 2004. Employers and agencies following the guidance will continue to have a statutory defence should it later be found that the worker is in fact not allowed to work.

The new full guidance is not yet available but a Summary Guidance may be obtained
